BOOKKEEPING LEDGER WITH REPORTS AND RECONCILIATION

Keep a business ledger built around balanced entries and clear records. The bookkeeping app links income and expenses to accounts, provides financial reports and supports a checked CSV import, with sign-in and ownership controls around each person’s books.

Corrections preserve the history through reversing entries. Reconciliation compares the recorded account balance with a statement figure so differences can be investigated. This is a foundation for basic bookkeeping; bank feeds, payroll and tax filing are separate capabilities.

WHAT THIS EXAMPLE SHOWS

Keep private balanced journal entries, record income and expenses, compare account balances with statements and review financial reports. Use the sample to name the audience, the main action, and the smallest useful first version. Cleo HQ then helps turn your own brief into a product plan and a working build.

QUESTIONS FOUNDERS ASK

How is bookkeeping different from sending an invoice?

An invoice asks a customer to pay a particular bill. A bookkeeping ledger records the wider movement of business money across accounts and uses those records for reports and reconciliation. This example centres on balanced journal entries, while Cleo’s separate invoicing template covers numbered bills and private payment links for customers.

Can I change an entry after it has been posted?

Posted journal records preserve their history. When an entry needs correcting, use a reversal and then record the replacement rather than silently rewriting the original figures. That makes the change understandable when you review the ledger later, and helps reports remain traceable to the transactions that produced their totals.

Does this include tax filing or a connection to my bank?

The template supports basic bookkeeping records, reports and statement reconciliation. It does not include automatic bank feeds, payroll, tax returns or a claim of compliance with a particular country’s rules. Those additions need their own scope and checks. Review imported records and confirm the accounting treatment appropriate to the actual business.
