Error tracking (Sentry)
What it does
Error tracking — you find out when your app breaks for a real person, and Cleo sees exactly which line broke.
The free plan covers 5,000 errors a month, which is plenty for a new app. No card needed. The account has to be yours, so the errors stay yours — Cleo cannot make it for you, but it only takes a couple of minutes.
The steps
- Go to sentry.io and click "Get started" to make a free account. Use the same email you use for Cleo so it is easy to find later.
- Sentry asks "Choose your platform". Pick the one for your app — see the list below. If unsure, ask Cleo and it will tell you.
- Give the project your app's name and click "Create Project".
- Sentry now shows a setup page with a long web address that starts with https:// and contains "ingest" and "sentry.io". That address is called the DSN. It is your app's key. Click the copy button next to it.
- Come back to Cleo: Settings → Integrations → "Error tracking (Sentry)". Choose your app, paste the DSN, click Save.
- That is all. Cleo does the rest — the code, the settings, and a test error to prove it arrives.

What Cleo does after you paste the DSN
- Adds the Sentry code to your app (Ada does this as a normal task).
- Puts the DSN into your app's settings at the next deploy — you never touch a config file.
- Sends one harmless test error and checks it shows up in your Sentry, so "connected" means proven, not assumed.
- From then on, when a real error appears, Cleo reads it and turns it into a plain-language bug report on your Board.
Is the DSN a secret?
No. It can only send errors in to your Sentry; it cannot read anything out. It ships inside your app’s browser code, like every app that uses Sentry. Cleo still stores it encrypted.
Readable line numbers (optional)
Without this, Sentry shows the squashed code your visitors download. With it, Sentry shows the real lines Ada wrote, so fixes are faster. Skip it to start; add it any time.
- In Sentry, open Settings (the gear) → under Organization, click "Auth Tokens" → "Create New Token". Name it "Cleo uploads". Copy it.
- Note the two names Sentry shows in the web address: sentry.io/organizations/YOUR-ORG/projects/YOUR-PROJECT — those are the organization and project slugs.
- Paste all three into the "Readable line numbers" section of the Cleo card.
